Just wondering if anyone has bought, driven or considered the new Ranger ETX?

I looked at one the other day. Seems like a nice little UTV and quite attractively priced. Just wondering if (for my needs) it would be worth spending and extra thousand to buy the 570. Both are rated with the same payload, cargo and towing capacities!

Hmmm. I can't find a single review of the ETX anywhere online. You test drove one? How did it do? What did you like/dislike about it?

I test drove an ETX, the little motor is capable. Not impressive down low or at the top but I suspect it was designed and tuned specifically to distribute power somewhat evenly across rpm range. It rode fine, I couldn't tell any difference between it and the 570 mid and full size I test drove the same day. To be honest though, it was driving on concrete during test drives so no real chance to put the machines thru anything.

About the same power as the old 500 engines, should be a good rig for the money !

The new ETX is the replacement for the old Ranger 400. It comes with the new Pro-Star motor w/integrated transmission that launched in last years Sportsman Ace with 31 HP! This new Ranger packs all the nice 2015 upgrades and creature comforts along with EFI and a power increase into the Ranger 400 price point!
While many here will immediately look past this machine simply for it's engine size, if the ETX can live up to the Ranger 400 quality, utility, and capability it will prove to be a great UTV and very important gateway vehicle to the rest of the Polaris Ranger line just as the 400 was!

Cheers

^Well said, not to mention the engine is now located behind the seats under the dump box. The 455 Fuji was bulletproof, time will tell for this new little prostar BUT so far it appears to be trending nicely in the ACE

The 570 in the sportsman on the other hand has been a problem child.

570 has had a year to get some bugs out, and it'll be just a bit faster that's about it.

price wise it's a steal though,

Took delivery on a 2015 unit 10 days ago. A really neat machine. Has glass installed in front and rear. Polaris 3500# winch, Polaris in cab mirror, and windshield wiper and washer. Also, had the nerf bars installed.
Want o install a power port on dash so that I can put a battery tender on it, direct feed. Also, going to install a radio but have not got the speakers set in my mind yet. I have a back up camera that I want to also install. I have been able to install a real nice, loud horn. I am not going in the woods or mudding or whatever. It is my toy to use on my property.
I took it out on a paved road behind my land and buckled the seat belt and it hit 30mph in low range. Put it in high and it was going over 40mph, very quickly, when I let up. It is new and has about 2 hours on it
I think it is the neatest toy, but it depends on what you want it to do!!!

Wow. Sounds great. I have been comparing this little unit to the Kawasaki Mule 610XC recently. I sat in both units at my local dealer and the Mule fits me WAY more comfortably. My problem is that I'm really big and my belly rubs against the steering wheel in the Ranger. Also the seatbelt is about 2 inches too short so I'd need an extender (yes I'm too fat, lol). The Mule fits great though! Lots of room for me on that machine.

I'm a little disappointed because I like the performance features of the Ranger WAY better than the Mule. The Mule is limited to 25mph and doesn't have a speedometer, EFI or even disk brakes! But what it does have is a considerably tougher build, a way better warranty and a lower price (slightly).

So essentially I'm torn between a fun and fast machine that's too tight a fit and uncomfortable to drive, vs a slow but extremely dependable machine that's very comfortable for me to drive!

Wcjr,

Can you share some detailed feedback re your new ranger etx. U are the only one ive seen on the boards with one and wonder what else u rode and compared it to amd why u picked the 400 over the 570. Im also curious how the noise compares, the old 400 was of interest to me bc of price and the power was adeqeuate but it was so loud, i hated it and didnt buy. I kniw the motor is rearward on the new 400 and it is a new generation but how is the cab noise level and how does the noise compare to the 570. I wish it had the turf mode they dropped that for the new 400 but i guess they had to do something to differentiate the 570 besides just power bc i wouldnt pay an extra 1000$ just for more power but the turf mode is nice.

My primary interest is in the full size 570 but considering all 3. The 900 is too big and expensive

I cant say to much about it in that I only have about 2 hours on it. I did not try any other units. I priced John Deere Gators and they were really high! My wife had me check further and I was told about the Polaris. I checked my 4 local dealers and the one I choose was fantastic. He made a mistake on the price but honored it. I got a 10% discount on my add ons and free installation. I did not get a discount on the washer wiper or the hitch installs. He was also up to $1000 less than a dealer who quoted.
It is a little loud but I hope when I install the radio it will be AOK.
I am sorry that I can not tell you more!!!

I just bought one. Got a great deal, well below MSRP out the door. I own 64 acres, so this machine will be more than enough to haul deer and tend to my food plots.

The ride is great and it doesn't have any noise issues (drivetrain) that I have read about. Great machine for the price.

I considered the mule and the honda pioneer 500. But I liked the fun factor of the Polaris over other entry level models.

My 2012 ranger 500 was a great machine, I am still kicking myself for selling it. Had Maxxis Bighorn tires which I believe are the best out there. Many rides in the woods with many different types of machines and it did everything other machines did.

Update....

Took it out one time...ran perfect...it sat in the garage for a week....went to take it hunting and it fired right up then cut off when I put it in gear...haven't been able to start it since....

I replaced the spark plug (thought I may have been fouled since ive only run it a few short times)....didn't help....its getting spark and fuel....I've checked every plug connection....and the oil has a strong gas smell...

I don't have a compression tester, so I'm going to take it to the dealer....its two hours away so I am trying to figure out when I can get it there....

I'll update when I get an answer....I love the machine, but this is pretty disappointing since it only has 4 miles on it
