Gintani Reveals 1,000+ HP Twin-Turbo Porsche GT3 RS

Some maniacs clearly think the GT3 RS needs a pair of turbos to live up to its potential—enter Gintani, a tuning company out of California.

Porsche's GT3 RS might be evidence that at least one automotive manufacturer remains committed to naturally aspirated engines and manual transmissions. As every new generation emerges with variations on the Mezger GT1 water-cooled flat-six, Porsche purists fret that the model will go the way of the rest of the industry and adopt turbochargers—much as the base 911 has today. But on the other hand, some maniacs clearly think the GT3 RS needs a pair of turbos to live up to its potential—enter Gintani, a tuning company out of California.

Bolt-Ons

Gintani made a few posts on social media recently that reveal a gnarly GT3 RS that sounds just as mean as it looks. Little by the way of stats are available as of now, as these are just teaser clips and images, but the result certainly looks positive. And Gintani does offer an ECU tune for the GT3 RS without the turbos that can increase output up to 25 horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque.

GT2 Clone?

Porsche fans may very well be thinking to themselves that a Porsche GT3 RS with a pair of turbos sounds fairly similar to a GT2 RS. Well, that's certainly true—but Gintani's posts clearly reveal a car that's much more hardcore than even the wildest Stuttgart-designed products. With a massive diffuser, open rear bumper, and burnt rubber galore, this could truly be the "widow-maker" in the posts' description.

Upgrades Galore

For context, the 2019 iteration of the GT2 RS cranks out 690 horses from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six. Given that the GT3 RS leaves the factory with a 4.0-liter flat-six that produces up to 520 horses without forced induction, it's a safe bet that when Gintani does reveal official stats—as tested on the 1,000+ HP dyno advertised on the company's website—the results should best the car's big sibling by a fair amount. Here's hoping that the traction control still works, or this car could truly live up to the heritage of a 935!
